Matching colors – a rainbow wheel

Well,Β  well after this colourful popsicle sticks, lil A definitely took to learning colours and now she can name almost 10 colours πŸ™‚ I really did not have time for more activities, but that did not deter her enthusiasm πŸ™‚

She loved mom colouring and she took to learning the names (of the colours) of those colour pencils.
And then she simply got bored with all her toys since a week .. Every single toy I bring out, She tells me “Amma idhi vaddhu amma, inkoti kaaavaali ammmmaa” (not this, another one please) and these days she is diligently packing up and giving away to me as well. So much for trying to set up discipline and responsibility. (She is doing this only when she is not happy with the toys u see πŸ˜› not everytime πŸ˜‰ )

All the toys i stocked here at Vizag are exhausted and she wanted new ones. So I decided to do a couple of DIY activities for her today…

She went out to beach with my promise that a new game would await her by the time she returns ..
I loved the look on her face with my mention of new game .. Absolute ecstasy.. but what amused me was the look on the father, my hubster .. he seemed utterly delighted as well πŸ˜€

Coming to activity #1, I had some coloured wooden pegs lying around and the amazon hauls have left me with lot of cardboard πŸ˜‰

So I decided a simple rainbow wheel with crayons and those wooden pegs for her to match ..

I still have to see how good she can handle those pegs, but definitely a good one to start.

And then here you go the final finished piece of rainbow wheel.

And then this is not the end of the story. Do you want a dash of expectation vs reality mishap? Here you go πŸ˜‰ what Aadya decided to do with the rainbow wheel?
Oh spin it like a wheel anf that too .. like a boss!!!! πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜…

2 piece puzzles

I wanted puzzles for little A since long but as soon as she turned 2 I just had to get them ..

See the haul for both of us πŸ˜‰

But A was clearly irritated seeing she couldn’t solve them ..

Then I realized she needed something simple to start with to get her interested in puzzles .. I browsed over toddler puzzles and saw that clearly I was over enthusiastic about the whole thing. She definitely had more time for these 3,4,5 piece puzzles!!

Then i came up with these simple DIY puzzles.
All i needed was a black sketch, crayons, cardboard(online shopping comes handy here) and a white paper πŸ™‚ and then of course a toddler who dint mind clumsy work!! I really love her for that !!

And viola to start with 3 basic drawings and my 2 piece puzzles for A are ready !😎

That look of absolute delight from A is priceless.. Any day!! πŸ™‚

Fishing experience from scraps

This has been on my mind forever!!
But somehow was putting it off .. Forever πŸ™‚

Today I felt like treating lil’ A and there you go .. It just took me 15 min
I used left over foam sheets, eyelets, Popsicle stick and A’s thread that has been lying forever, of course a magnet as well .. And to punch the eyelets home … the ginger smasher πŸ™‚
Wasn’t it easy breathy πŸ™‚ and needless to say Aadya LOVED it!!
Attaching the pic of a small box i made from scraps to hold my toddler crayons which doubled up to make a fish tank!!

Thoroughly this has been made from scraps πŸ˜€

ο»ΏColours, popsicle sticks and a toddler

My little daughter refuses to acknowledge colours πŸ™‚
Of course its a toddler we are talking about ..

How to familiarize when pointing to the routine objects dint help and I couldn’t do those so very interesting but painstaking crafts for her ?!
I got hold of crayons and found some popsicle sticks lying around.

I thought why not a simple matching activity for her? It wouldn’t be too overwhelming and its very easy peasy for me as well πŸ˜€
So I just had fun colouring them when she went for a stroll and when she was back she was excited πŸ™‚
And I could finally make her interested in colours ..

So I think keep it simple mommy ! does the trick πŸ™‚
There you go my little craft .. And I always feel if I could do something, ANYBODY can do it πŸ™‚

I feel water colors would do more justice for even colouring but I did utilise what was available πŸ˜› and definitely little A did not notice πŸ˜€

I have some more activities in mind with these popsicle sticks .. Will post them when I get to do them..in action πŸ™‚
