No-cook Edible Play Dough

I am constantly on the run for simple .. DIY activities for lil A πŸ™‚ Though there were many versions of DIY dough on the internet .. I found this extremely simple and effective πŸ˜€

This is completely edible as well ..

  1. 1 cup flour (any flour will do) I used wheat
  2. 1/4 cup salt
  3. 1/2 cup warm water
  4. A few drops of food colouring

  1. Mix the flour and the salt
  2. The food colouring is to be mixed with the warm water
  3. Add the water to the flour stirring all the way.
  4. Knead the dough so that the flour is absorbed. If at all the dough seems sticky, you would just need to add more flour.

And this was the output for us πŸ˜€

The next day when I gave to Aadya .. she was impressed .. Check out what all we did …

Shapes, chapati and then our favorite balls πŸ˜›

So when you are giving the dough be sure to give some toys and shape cutters .. I gave her a popsicle stick to cut since we dint have any shape cutters at home right now .. πŸ™‚

Will surely post more ideas and our dough tales in more posts to come ..

Oh and do store it in an airtight container for it to last longer than a month πŸ™‚

  1. Commercial playdo dries out so fast, and isn’t great for younger babies especially… this looks much nicer! May be too lazy to do this, but bookmarking it πŸ˜€

  2. Oh wow, I had no idea we could make play dough at home. My son loves playing with it and we are constantly buying a new packet every month. This is awesome.

  3. Play dough is a big hit in my home too. Both the home made ones as we all the store bought ones. If i don’t have food colour handy, i put haldi or spinach/ coriarnder/ beet root juice in to the dough for natural colors.

  4. Ahh good to know that. I was concerned about how long it will last but you answered that as well. I will be trying this with my Laddoo soon. Looks like the safest play dough around. Thank you for sharing the recipe <3

    1. The batch lasted more than 2 months for us πŸ™‚ when stored properly after the play!
I ditched it because I was bored πŸ˜€

  5. Amazing blog and very interesting stuff you got here! I definitely learned a lot from reading through some of your earlier posts as well and decided to drop a comment on this one!
